The Ever Changing River

Photograph of a canoe passing a large tree in the Rivanna River by Doug Couvillion

This tree trunk is an example of the ever changing nature of rivers. It was once a large tree, probably a Sycamore growing along the bank of the river.  Now it sits in the middle of the Rivanna River providing shelter for small fish, frogs and a hunting opportunity for herons.  At some point in the future it will be washed away.

This is my contribution to the Weekly Photo Challenge: Delta.
