Walking through a vineyard near Scottsville, VA, I spotted this White Admiral butterfly perched near colorful berries.

Nice catch! I liked seeing the colorful berries along with the butterfly. However I think the butterfly’s species might be the closely related Red-spotted purple butterfly. But I could be wrong…
Thanks Deb. I’ll check out the Wikipedia page. The butterfly identification guide I have is far from complete. According to it the White Admiral comes in two color patterns. Ironically enough one of the patterns is mostly black. That being said, I’m not sure this is a White Admiral.
