Reconnecting with nature through hiking, camping, and paddling
I found this can on a recent trip to the Rivanna River. My friends and I were trying to recall when beverage cans replaced pull-top tabs, like this one, with pop-top tabs. To the best of our recollection these cans were out of circulation by the early 1980’s. That would make this can roughly 30 – 35 years old! This rusty piling seems out of place among the old wooden posts.
I spotted this old camper parked just off the Creeper Trail in Damascus, VA. It once offered its owners a means for getting away and enjoying the simple pleasures of life. Those days appear to be long gone but the shell of this camper still holds memories of past adventures.
This tree stood along a trail I was hiking one morning. I thought the vivid, rusty bark contrasting with the greens of the moss and pines made this an interesting study of color and texture. The early morning shade provided the perfect soft, even light to produce the deeply saturated colors just as I remember seeing them.
Walking by this old school bus I decided to explore a different perspective on the subject.
