Autumn Morning Fog on the James

photograph of the James River in early morning fogThis photo was taken about 30 minutes after sunrise on an early December day.  Our neighborhood was shrouded in fog and I hoped to capture it hanging over the river.  Normally fog clings heavily to the river but this day was different. I was a little disappointed but enjoyed this view from one of Richmond’s many bridges over the James River.

The Hobson Plots

panoramic photo of a family grave siteI stitched together a series of photos to create this panoramic image of the Hobson family plots in Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond, Va.  It just seemed like the perfect post for Halloween.

Like all the photos on my blog, you can click on it to see a larger version of the image.

Tree Reflected in the River

Photograph of a tree and its reflection in the James RiverThis tree seems to own the end of this small island in the James River.  With the slow moving Autumn waters it seemed like an appropriate time to photograph the tree and its reflection in the river.

I merged two separate exposures to produce an HDR image that retained some foreground color but kept the sky from being washed out.

James River July Morning

panoramic photograph of the James River

During a morning walk along the James River it amazed me how much the river has changed since the spring.  The water is lower and there’s a lot of aquatic vegetation that wasn’t there just a few months ago.
