I stitched together 6 separate photos to create this panoramic view of the rock wall at Jones Run Falls in Shenandoah National Park. The water seeping over the stone edifice makes it appear very dark, nearly black. As with all of the photos on my blog, you can click on it to see a larger, more detailed image.
Morning Flowers
Tree Reflected in the River
This tree seems to own the end of this small island in the James River. With the slow moving Autumn waters it seemed like an appropriate time to photograph the tree and its reflection in the river.
I merged two separate exposures to produce an HDR image that retained some foreground color but kept the sky from being washed out.
Cypress Dawn
Solitary Cypress
This cypress tree stands alone, out in the water. I shot this picture at sunrise from about 300 yards away. The fog drifted around the tree as the sun slowly swept it away. As the light and fog were continually changing, I kept shooting and ended up with this image, where most of the fog is between the tree and the shoreline, highlighting it’s isolation.
